Krossobanen Rjukan is a unique cable car that transports people and goods from Krosso (403 m) to Gvepseborg (886 meters) See our webcams: http://www.krossobanen.no/webcampage.htm Krossobanen Rjukan is a unique cable car that transports people and goods from Krosso (403 m) to Gvepseborg (886 m) of approximately 4 1/2 minutes. The line was built by the Norwegian Hydro in 1928 and given as a gift to the people of Rjukan so that they could get up to the sun in winter, when Rjukan is in total shade. During the tour with Krossobanen from the top station Gvepseborg, one has a tremendous view across the valley / Rjukan Gaustatoppen and inward Gausdalen. In May 2009 the Krossobanen an internet poll, which was organized by the Ancient Monuments Society county branches in Telemark, Buskerud and Vestfold and Telemark Norwegian and was touted as the jeveste cultural heritage of the region. At Easter 2013, the new cafe and adventure center - with spectacular views across the valley and Gaustatoppen - scheduled for completion.
